St. Thomas University is extremely proud of its 20 member Big Band- style dance band, The Thomists. Founded in 1965 by former professor Harry Rigby, the group has gained recognition for its efforts in keeping the music of the Big Band era alive in New Brunswick, and indeed, across the Maritime Provinces. Now, almost fifty years later, the band has the reputation of being one of the finest and most unique dance bands in Canada. This site is dedicated to the more than 300 people who have graced the bandstand over the years as "Thomists" and to our many friends and fans who have followed and supported us.
